CLIENT:

Dudoo was born out of SOS Kannerduerf Lëtzebuerg's (SOS Children's Village Luxembourg) desire to develop a talisman, a friend in need, for the children in their care. In a workshop, the children were invited to share their hopes and fears, as well as their experience of coping with difficult situations. Is there something that could help in those moments?

Based on the insights we received, we developed a soft toy with some distinct features:
•It can be used as a cushion
•It has ears that can be removed and used as a scarf or a "doudou", depending on the age of the child
•It has a friendly yet neutral face
•It can be customised (by using a different scarf)
•It is in the distinct blue colour of the SOS Children's Villages

The Dudoo has become a mascot for the SOS Children's Village Luxembourg and stands for their support that every child has the right to grow up in a safe environment. Every child cared for by the Children's Village in Luxembourg will receive their very own Dudoo.

Process:
•Workshop with children from SOS Kannerduerf Lëtzebuerg (together with Jan Glas)
•Development of the soft toy
•Production management
•Name finding and logo
Dudoo is close to the French word "Doudou", which stands for a soft toy, often a piece of cloth, that children carry around with them everywhere they go. It also sounds like "Hey you!" in Luxembourgish ("Du, do!")
•Illustrations and label
